To be named as the College DUX is the highest academic accolade that can be presented to a student. Congratulations to Harry Towner on being named as Sheldon College’s DUX of 2020.  This is certainly an outstanding achievement.

Every year the Senior College Dux is awarded to one ATAR-eligible student who has achieved the highest scaled score in their best five subjects. This process ensures integrity and is consistent with the QCAA’s tertiary ranking system.

“Being awarded as the College Dux hasn’t really sunk in yet.” stated Harry.

“To be honest, I am still really shocked as there are so many other deserving students in the grade.”

“I have never looked at myself as being the most academically talented,” he added.

Harry has been a member of the Sheldon College community since his first day of Prep. Upon entering Year 7, Harry really began to excel within the Academic arena and establish himself within the College community by earning himself a Gold Academic Award every year since then. Harry is a very determined, hardworking and humble individual who is respected by his peers and teachers alike.

At the 2019 Middle and Senior College Celebration of Excellence ceremony, Harry earned himself the Academic Excellence Award as well as three Subject Excellence Awards. This year he stepped it up a notch, earning himself another, the overall Sheldon College Dux Award.

In addition to Harry’s outstanding academic record, he is a talented representative swimmer for Sheldon College.

It has been an absolute delight to have had Harry as a student at Sheldon College. His exemplary commitment and unwavering dedication to his individual scholarship is truly evident in all that he does.

Sheldon College would like to wish Harry every success in his chosen career.
