This year, Year 9 Business students were privileged to be able to work with, and learn from, Esther Ehler, Director of Strategy and Operations at Ernst & Young, and Dugald Meek, Senior Associate at Willis Towers Watson, via zoom, regarding how their companies had handled working from home during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

The reason for this particular activity was to aid students with their Term 4 assessment task whereby they were undertaking the role of a Human Resource Manager relevant to their selected case study. Regardless of which case study was selected, students were to advise the business on how to effectively manage employees when working from home to ensure productivity and job satisfaction.

Esther and Dugald’s real world knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of working from home proved invaluable to these students.  The College’s budding Human Resource Managers also enjoyed also being able to hear about some of the inner workings of two large global organisations.

The Year 9 Business students really appreciated the time taken by Dugald and Esther to help them with their task.  At Sheldon College we believe in providing our students with real world assessment tasks to allow them to gain the skills they will need in their chosen pathways after graduation.
