This morning it was time for the College to host the Senior College Celebration of Excellence Ceremony to recognise the outstanding academic successes of our Senior College students. Once again, this ceremony was live streamed to assist with keeping numbers to a minimum in order to adhere to the College’s COVID Safe Plan.

This year, there were a number of high achieving students who deserved public recognition for their ongoing commitment to their studies, especially during what was such a challenging year.

The pinnacle of this morning’s event was the announcement of the 2020 Sheldon College DUX - Year 12 student, Harry Towner. During his time at the College Harry has worked incredibly hard and has demonstrated an enormous amount of dedication to all his academic pursuits.

In addition to the naming of the College Dux, there were also a number of other major awards distributed which included:

  • Senior College Citizenship Award – Georgia Lane
  • Caltex All Rounder Award – Miguel Costa Teixeira
  • UQ Achievement Award – Lachlan Andrews
  • ADF Long Tan and Teamwork Award Year 10 – Isabelle Treasure and Year 12 – Sigrid Mather
  • MEGT Outstanding School-Based Apprentice/Trainee – Joshua Pinti
  • Tara Johnston Memorial Award – Phoebe Vallance

As the College prepares to bid farewell to the graduating Year 12 class, we reflect on the many outstanding achievements that each of these talented students has accomplished during their time at the College. We wish them the best of luck and encourage them to continue to learn and grow as they venture on through their lives.

Congratulations to all the students recognised for your hard work. We implore you to continue to set the bar high for yourselves and use each day as an opportunity to better yourself, your knowledge and your capabilities.
