Quality Assurance (ISO 9001:2015) and Occupational Health and Safety Management Certification (ISO 45001:2018)
Sheldon College's Quality Management System is a formalised system that documents processes, procedures, and responsibilities for achieving quality policies and objectives. It has four main components: quality planning, quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement and is focused not only on product and service quality but also on the means to achieve it. Our Quality Management System helps coordinate and direct our College’s activities to meet customer and regulatory requirements and improve our effectiveness and efficiency on a continuous basis.
At Sheldon College, we have a responsibility to provide a safe environment for all students, staff and visitors while undertaking College activities both on-campus and off-campus. The purpose of our OHS Management System is to systematically reduce the possibility of accidents, illness, injuries or fatalities in the workplace by ensuring that hazards in the workplace are eliminated or controlled in a systematic manner.
ISO 45001:2018 provides requirements for an effective occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system. It is process-based and considers risks and opportunities (in common with the other major ISO standards). This system will assist in employee wellness and wellbeing, reducing injuries and accidents in our workplace, as well as continually improving the OH&S performance of our business.
As an ISO 45001:2018 certified business, we will be able to:
- Proactively identify and address potential hazards in our workplace – making it safer for all staff and students;
- Minimise the risk of accidents and incidents as a result of the continual analysis and improvement of the OH&S system;
- Reduce costs of accidents and incidents in the workplace;
- Reduce the cost of insurance premiums;
- Reduce employee turnover and absence.
