From social responsibility to solar energy and water conservation, every initiative helps our students and community contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future. 

Our commitment is part of a coordinated, long-term program that considers not just what we have achieved, but also where we are heading. Significant steps have already been taken, including one of the largest solar installations of any school in Australia, campus-wide LED lighting upgrades, water treatment and reuse systems, waste reduction initiatives, and student-led sustainability studies. These achievements provide a strong foundation, but they are only the beginning.

Looking ahead, Sheldon College is preparing a framework that will measure impact, set ambitious but achievable goals, and guide future projects across energy, waste, water, and biodiversity. This means our progress will be ongoing, data-driven, and transparent. Solar Power

One of Australia’s Largest School Solar Installations

Sheldon College proudly operates a 1.2 MW large-scale campus solar installation. Together, our panels generate more than one million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity each year, reducing our carbon footprint and powering our campus with renewable energy.

 
 
 
 

Water Saved

Every Drop Counts

Through our rainwater harvesting, below-ground tanks, and onsite wastewater treatment facility, Sheldon College conserves millions of litres of water each year. Recycled water is used to irrigate our grounds, support daily operations, and reduce reliance on community supplies.

Student & Community Action

Learning, Leading, and Living Sustainability

Sustainability is woven into our learning framework and embraced through community action. From Year 4 sustainability studies to student-led recycling drives and outreach partnerships with organisations like Rosie’s and The Smith Family, our community is building sustainable habits that last a lifetime.
