2019 Future Anything Grand Final

We are pleased to announce that Sheldon College was crowned the winners of ‘The People’s Choice Award’ on Tuesday 29 October

This year's epic Grand Final 'Shark Tank' Event saw the top youth-led enterprises selected from 2000+ students nationally pitch against each other to an esteemed panel of some of Australia’s most exciting entrepreneurs, changemakers, visionaries and inspirers for the glory, honour and the funding to launch their venture out of the classroom and into reality.

Three innovative Semi-Finalist teams represented the College from Year 9 IDEAS, which was accepted to compete out of 50 plus schools in Queensland, to pitch their social business ideas. Lara Lambert Year 9, was the founder of Bub.ly and her business was awarded the People’s Choice Award for her Entrepreneurial Display at the Grand Final, taking home $750 in seed funding.

The panel asked challenging questions and our students presented well-researched and prepared responses to some of the judges, which included:

  • Jan Owen - CEO of the Foundation for Young Australians
  • Leanne Kemp - Queensland Chief Entrepreneur and C3PO First ~ CEO / Founder Everledger
  • Robyn Pulman – Director Speak for Impact

“We were all blown away by the ingenuity of their ideas, the quality of their presentations and the potential of their enterprises to help solve some of the very real problems facing our world today” said Vanessa Noonan, Head of Digital Pedagogy and Innovation, and Head of Faculty – Technologies. “We are extremely proud of all of our students who took part and would like to congratulate all our other finalists and semi-finalists. I was very proud of our young people trying to make a difference in the world”.

‘Future Anything’ transforms young people’s passion and curiosity into innovative ideas and they support educators to lead authentic learning experiences that are not only Australian Curriculum aligned, but also connect students to the real world.

Sheldon College is already excited about participating in the second year of IDEAS and competing in the 2020 Future Anything.
