The Volleyball tournament always proves to be a great experience for our students. It was even more so this year, as over 2000 students from across Queensland competed in the three-day competition (under strict socially distancing requirements).
For the first time since 2017, Sheldon was excited to have both a Boys’ and Girls’ team participate in the tournament.
The Sheldon Boys’ team played an outstanding tournament across the weekend. With only a seven-week training block, the boys worked extremely hard and were able to execute their game plan at a high level across the entire weekend. The boys topped their pool across the first two days which set them up well for the finals. After defeating Rochedale in the Semi-Final, our boys won in straight sets against Redeemer to claim the Gold Medal. The boys went through the whole weekend undefeated, only dropping one set, which is an outstanding achievement.
A special well-done to Troy Watson who was named the Most Valuable Player for the tournament in his final year at the College. The commitment of the group was unquestioned throughout the whole process. Congratulations to our Gold medallists on your wonderful success.
The Sheldon Girls' team greatly improved their performance based on the competition experience. Thank you, girls for your wonderful commitment over the weekend. It was great to see the enjoyment of being back playing sport for all participants.
We look forward to seeing more Sheldon Volleyball teams excelling at the future tournaments.
