On Friday 18 October, the 2019 Guitarist of the Year and local Redlands Coast resident, Dylan Reavey, shared the Sheldon College Assembly stage with over 60 of the College’s instrumental guitar students.

After recently being awarded 2019 Guitarist of the Year in London, Dylan was delighted to have the opportunity to perform with a group of students who admire his music and aspire to one day also earn themselves this same title.

“It was both humbling and rewarding to be able to play on stage at a school with such young players who also share the same passion as myself,” stated Dylan.

“It is cool to see so many students enjoy making music the same way that I do.”

Together, Dylan and the Sheldon College Guitarists strummed along to the famous ‘Sweet Home Alabama’. A number of students, teachers and of course Dylan, each stole a few moments of fame to perform their very own solo items.

At the conclusion of the morning’s events, Dylan wanted to leave a message with all Sheldon College’s aspiring artists.

“Always strive for perfection and devote time and energy into what you love, and you will be able to reap the rewards.”

Sheldon College was delighted to have such a wonderful role model perform with so many of their dedicated artists. The College wishes Dylan all the best and the students hope that they are able to ‘jam’ with him again in the future.
