Last month several Sheldon College Year 7 to Year 12 students developed sustainable and scalable start-up businesses, at the Redland’s first ‘Inspiring Young Entrepreneurs Summit’(YES).

Two worthy Sheldon College winners, Jack Richardson and Joshua Baladi, won prizes at the YES Summit, including tickets to attend Brisbane’s Premier Digital Event, ‘The Something School’ - new to the Something Digital festival line up in 2019.

The event took place last week, celebrating digital ecosystems and ways to strengthen digital capabilities across various business areas including marketing, business analytics, technology, leadership, customer design and operations.

Key features of ‘The Something School’ included:

  >> Four international keynote speakers

  >> Over 30 local and interstate speakers

  >> Two stages of mind blowing sessions

  >> A digital showcase and demonstration lounge

  >> Plenty of opportunities to play and collaborate

Our students thoroughly enjoyed this aspirational event, that focused on how digital innovation and success starts and ends with a focus on the human experience, posing the question ‘What will the digital jobs of the future look like?’.

Also, as part of their YES Summit prize, Jack Richardson and Joshua Baladi won a subscription to a one-week membership to the Fishburners not-for-profit co-working space in Brisbane City, the largest co-working space for scalable Technology Start-ups in Brisbane.

This week the two students had the opportunity to attend Fishburners and work with other students solving some of the most critical global issues. This opportunity allowed our students to attend MasterClasses and network with students across the Asia-Pacific, embrace the fourth industrial revolution and be prepared for one or more of the 100 jobs of the future, as featured on ‘100jobsofthefuture.com’.

Our students were fortunate to meet the following professionals:

• Davey Gibian - Founder Calypso AI and Whitehouse Presidential Innovation Fellow

• Simon Lowe, Director and Co-Founder, The Ageing Revolution.

We are extremely proud of Jack and Joshua and we look forward to nurturing their passions further in all things digital and innovation. #automation #somethingdigital #future #brisbanedigital #futureofwork #somethingschool #sheldoncollege #isq
