Sheldon College Student Wins Her Way Through To Compete In Adult Tennis Competition

Lara is one of two Queensland players to be selected to go to Melbourne on 6 December with an opportunity to play for a spot in the Australian Open Main Draw

Last weekend Year 10 Sheldon College student Lara Walker competed in the AO2020 Wildcard Playoff and won her way through to the Australian Open Main Draw Wild Card Playoffs.

At just 16, Lara will now be playing with 19 other women all ranked within the top 40 in Australia.

Within the next two weeks, she will be competing in the 16’s and 18’s Nationals, along with the Australian Open Wild Card Playoff.

Lara chose to have a break from junior international competition to focus on training and competing in Open Women’s competitions.  As a result, this achievement follows 3 consecutive Australian Money Open Ladies tournament titles. Lara goes through to the AO Playoffs with the highly ranked female player, Sara Tomic.

This is such a wonderful opportunity for our talented sports star and all of Sheldon College will be cheering her on and with her in spirit!
