Congratulations to Sheldon College’s third year Apprentice Chef, Jessica Butcher, for winning Best Presented Plate in Queensland for her entry in the Nestle Golden Chef’s Hat Awards.

The Nestle Golden Chef’s Hat Awards are held every year and are Australia’s longest running culinary competition for young chefs. It provides the chefs of tomorrow with an opportunity to showcase their skills of today.

Jessica’s entry showcased her delicious entrée – pan fried duck breast served with cauliflower puree, confit leek, pickled Brussel sprouts and a duck jus.

“I think this is a terrific achievement and we are all incredibly proud of her,” stated the College’s Executive Chef, Fabian Iseli.

“This award is testament to Jessica’s commitment to her apprenticeship and a reflection of the Sheldon College values, even in the Commercial Cookery sector.”

Jessica’s recognition in the Nestle Golden Chef’s Hat Award reflects the variety of freshly prepared high-quality food that is provided to staff, students and families every day at the Café 97 Food Court.

Sheldon is incredibly proud to have a number of dedicated and hardworking employees across all areas of the Campus.
