Incredibly gifted College performers

captivated attendees on Friday evening

Extraordinary levels of talent and skill were showcased at the Contemporary Instrumental Concert (10 students) and Classical Instrumental Concert (11 students).

Students performances were critiqued in order to select the Top 5 Contemporary Instrumentalists of the Year’ and Top 5 Classical Instrumentalists of the Year who will be nominees for the upcoming Arts Academy Awards 2020to be celebrated in October. 

ASTA held a Sheldon College Music Eisteddfod in Term Two whereby students submitted video performances, and from these impressive entries, students in Years 8 to 12 who received a Gold Award were shortlisted to perform at the Instrumental Showcase.    

On the evening, Contemporary and Classical musicians played flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, marimba, vibraphone, drum kit, piano, guitar and bass guitar.  

Head of Instrumental Music, Mr. David Adelt commented Every performer played extremely well and presented themselves in a very professional manner on stage.  It is great to see the confidence growing in these students every year.  It was a credit to our program that we had students from every instrumental group performing at such a high standard”. 

We look forward to sharing the Instrumental Nominees with you very soon in addition to ticket details for the Arts Academy Awards 2020. Our 16th annual black-tie event will recognise the best of Sheldon College student works across all Senior College Art forms and is always a wonderful evening of celebration and entertainment.
