To be named DUX of the College is the highest accolade that can be bestowed upon a student. Congratulations to Richard Bahrett on this outstanding achievement.

Every year the Senior College Dux is awarded to one OP-eligible student who has achieved the highest scaled score in their best five subjects. This process ensures integrity and is consistent with the QCAA’s tertiary ranking system.

“For me the Dux award is a representation of all of the hard work that I have put into my studies, across all of my subjects this year,” stated Richard.

“When my name was called, I was overwhelmed with feelings of excitement and pride knowing that my entire family was there watching me. I really wanted to make my grandparents proud.”

Richard only started at Sheldon College in recent times, and in this time, he has been able to establish himself within the College community as a remarkable academic and a phenomenal musician. He is humble, mature and a dedicated individual who is respected by his teachers and teachers alike.

At last year’s 2018 Middle and Senior College Celebration of Excellence ceremony, Richard earned himself a Gold Academic Award as well as two Subject Excellence Awards. This year he worked even harder, earning himself another Gold Academic Award in addition to five Subject Excellence Awards for Chemistry, Physics, Maths B, Maths C and Music Extension, and of course the overall College Dux.

To complement Richard’s academic endeavours, he is a member of the Sheldon Scholars Academic Excellence program, as well as the College’s Australian Space Design Competition team who were runners up in this year’s final.

In addition to Richard’s outstanding academic record, he is a wonderful violinist, thus making him a vital member of a number of the College ensembles and bands including Strings Ensemble, Senior Strings Trio, The Musical Band and the Arts Academy Band.

It is an absolute delight to have Richard as a student at Sheldon College. His exemplary commitment and unwavering dedication to his individual scholarship is truly evident in all that he does.

Sheldon College would like to wish Richard every success in his chosen career.
