Number 1 in Queensland for

Sheldon College Chinese Language Students

Between 21 May to 31 May, Sheldon College Year 5 to 10 students put their Chinese language skills to the test as they participated in the online Language Perfect World Championships. The Sheldon students answered over 199,000 questions over the ten-day competition, earning Sheldon College 1st place in Queensland, out of 134 Queensland schools. 

On completion of the Championships the Teacher, Miss Clara Liu said “I was incredibly impressed by how many Sheldon College students participated and spent hours preparing and finessing their Chinese skills in preparation for the Championships. The students really enjoyed the experience and cannot wait for next year’s Championships.”

Overall, Sheldon College students placed 15th in Australia out of the 735 participating schools in the Championships. The following Sheldon College students were awarded certificates of merit for their individual contributions:

  • Year 5 students: Eva Lashand, Shin-Ting Lin and Meg Mather
  • Year 6 students: Talei Godbold and Hannah Spink
  • Year 7 students: Edward Boniface, Yangyang Cao, Angus Chou, Conor McCreath, Timothy Morante, Chloe Pudney, Jack Richardson and Bryson Williams
  • Year 8 students: Max Hooper, Chuan Shi and Jin Wu
  • Year 9 students: Talia Chapman and Harrison Waldron
