On Saturday 15 June, the Sheldon Event Centre was brought to life with the annual Performance Music showcase ‘Night at the Movies’.

In celebration of The Australian School of The Arts’ 20th Musical Production earlier this year, the College’s Performance Music Choirs and Ensembles presented work from some of the most popular Broadway Musicals to have graced both the stage and silver screen.

Under the guidance and creativity of the incredible Sheldon College tutors team, the talented Middle and Senior College students put on a spectacular showcase that included songs from Les Misérables, Mary Poppins, Singing in the Rain, My Fair Lady, La La Land, Lion King, Phantom of the Opera and many more.

Parked in the Sheldon Event Centre Forecourt, parents, guests and students were also treated to delicious food with the College’s newest recruit, 97th Street Kitchen - a 1988 Chevy Step Van, previously used to transport bread around America, transformed into a modern portable food catering service that provides quality gourmet and locally sourced meals for a variety of internal and external functions.

From its dashing lights, tasty creations, friendly staff and bopping music, 97th Street Kitchen was a spectacular addition to the annual event.

The audience was left feeling star-struck after witnessing the talented Vocal and Instrumental music students, combined with the delicious food that they sampled from 97th Street Kitchen.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the official launch of the 97th Street Kitchen.
