Sheldon College would like to congratulate the incredible number of athletes who have finished within the top 10 in the state at the 2020 Queensland Athletics Championships, held early in March, before the COVID-19 shutdowns. 

Headlining this year’s results were gold medalists Sovannary Seremet in the Under 14 High Jump and Zoe Beith in the Under 16 Shot Put. Sovannary also won bronze in the 80m Hurdles and placed 4th in Triple Jump, whilst Zoe also finished 4th in Javelin. 

Claiming silver this year were Luke Stachowicz - Under 17 Javelin, Pole Vault and Decathlon, Georgia Harris - Under 17 100m - and Lachlan Cornelius - Under 17 1500m. Georgia also picked up bronze in the 200m, with Lachlan also claiming bronze in the 800m. 

Also amongst the medalists were Madison Witt - bronze in the Under 15 Heptathlon as well as 4th in the 800m and 6th in the 1500m, Zephyr Marlin - bronze in Under 15 High Jump and 4th in the 100m, Kalliyan Seremet - bronze – Under 16 Heptathlon, Oscar Cornelius - bronze – Under 17 Steeplechase and Leahrose Hooper - bronze – Under 18 Steeplechase. 

Besides the medalists listed above, other Sheldon College athletes to finish within the top 10 in Queensland were as follows: 

  • Jessica Hoban - 4th in the Under 18 Triple Jump, and 7th in the Long Jump
  • Liam Manson - 4th in the Under 14 800m, and 9th in the 1500m 
  • Lucy Schooth - 6th in the Under 17 800m, and 8th in the 1500m 
  • Emily Witt - 5th in the Under 18 1500m 
  • Samuel Heeremans - 6th the Under 16 Steeplechase 
  • Taine Rossini - 7th in the Under 18 800m 
  • Keeleigh Anderson - 8th in the Under 17 1500m 
  • Nicholas Schooth - 8th in the Under 18 800m 
  • Innis Hooper - 8th in the Under 17 Steeplechase 
  • Andy Shi - 10th in the Under 16 Long Jump
