OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL HOURS CARE

FACILITY FOR SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN

The purpose of our Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC) program is to provide a safe and enjoyable place for students to be when they need to be cared for outside of the College's core hours of operation.

The service is twofold in that it aims to serve children in our community by providing a safe place where children can opt to work, rest or play in which the values align completely with Sheldon College. Secondly, the service is for the parents who require care for their children in a context that is a continuation of the children’s day and one that is housed conveniently within the College grounds whilst being a separate entity in its own right.

The three services offered are Before College CareAfter College Care and Vacation Care (including Student Free Day Care).

Mission Statement
To provide a quality educational experience in an environment that encourages and enables our students to succeed in a constantly changing world.

To support this Mission Statement, our program aims to provide an educare environment that is:

  • child-centred and reflective of the immediate needs and interests of the children enrolled;
  • built on each child’s developmental levels through the provision of challenging activities to further that development;
  • based on self-initiated leisure activities of an appropriate nature determined by the staff and children and built in a collaborative manner between adults and children
  • family-orientated, where we aim to support the needs of families and;
  • aiming to support the needs of the whole child i.e. physical, social, emotional, personal, creative, cognitive, linguistic and spiritual needs.
