Lara Walker and Team Win ITF World Junior Tennis Asia/Oceania Qualifying Event in Thailand

Lara Walker currently in Year 8, who is an outstanding tennis player and, at only 13 is ranked Number 1 in Australia for her age.
Recently Lara was selected as one of 3 players from Australia to compete in the ITF World Junior Tennis Asia/Oceania Qualifying Event held in Bangkok. The Australian team, including Lara, not only qualified for the Girls’ ITF World Junior Tennis Finals in Prostejov, Czech Republic, by being in the top four teams, but they won the Final, making them the No. 1 team in this competition. They defeated Korea in the Final by winning their two singles matches – Lara won her match defeating Korea’s top player in a fiercely fought 3 sets (7-5, 2-6, 6-3).
The 3 girls will now travel to Europe later this year to play in ITF tournaments for 5 weeks leading up to the World Finals in the Czech Republic. This is an absolutely remarkable achievement and so well-deserved by Lara. What makes her an even more outstanding athlete is her beautiful demeanour and absolute humility.
