On Friday 28 July Sheldon College Curriculum Drama students hosted the annual Drama Night. Students across Years 9 to 12 presented a variety of scenes to a live audience across two shows in the Performing Arts Theatrette. The scenes varied in style and context, ranging from the twisted children’s theatre rhyme of ‘Cinderella’, to ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and some Realism classics and even some Monty Python.
Audiences were well and truly entertained. They laughed and they cried and all were able to enjoy quality performances.
At the evening show, Barbara Lowing, our invited industry expert, had nothing but praise for the students’ work on the evening. She was incredibly impressed with their talent and dedication to their craft. Barbara commented that she was ‘moved’ by all of the performances and was so inspired by the students who presented.
Whilst recognising the efforts of all students, Barbara was given the challenge of awarding the stand-out male and female student on the evening. Chloe Crick and Scott Millar were her selections and the People’s Choice Award this year went to Scott Millar and Jan Krawczyk for their performance of ‘The Argument’.
Overall it was another fantastic evening of live entertainment, and not only was it enjoyed by those who were able to attend, but over 40 people viewed the live stream so wonderfully organised by Mr Murray James and the Media Team.
Thank you to those parents and students who came along and supported our performers. It was a wonderful evening and we were so pleased to share it with you all.
