Cadet Pilot Programme
Dear Dr Bishop,
I have some exciting news I would like to share with you in regards to my progress since graduating from Sheldon in 2013. I started the year enrolled in Griffith University studying a Bachelor of Aviation. I believe Sheldon College gave me a wonderful foundation of excellent work habits and discipline which resulted in High Distinctions in my Semester One subjects.
It has always been an ambition for me to become a professional pilot with an Australian airline. Four months ago, I applied to Regional Express (Rex) Airlines for their Cadet Pilot Programme. Rex Airlines receives thousands of applications each year for the opportunity to be trained and developed and guaranteed employment as an airline pilot. This opportunity is extremely competitive as only approximately 10 positions are available. After aptitude testing, flight simulator tests and many interviews, I was honoured to be accepted into this Cadet Pilot Programme. This weekend I am flying down to Wagga Wagga to commence a 12 months training program to become a First Officer with the airline.
I believe my years at Sheldon College have played an important part in the person that I have become. The school has taught me the importance of excellent study work habits, time management, self discipline and other valuable life skills. At Sheldon College, students are so fortunate to have such a high calibre of teachers and staff, who dedicate their time and effort into ensuring a great education for each student. I feel very privileged to have attended such a wonderful school. Keep up the fantastic work Dr B and I will be sure to visit the College when I have finished all of my training.
